There’s nothing wrong with asking for help.

You deserve rejuvenating rest each night, free from worry or overwhelm.

Postpartum does not have to be defined by sleep-deprivation, anxiously checking on your baby all night long, experimenting with sleep training, or feeling burnt out by morning. You can start each day with joy and energized healing.

We are here to help make it possible.

What does a Postpartum Nighttime Doula do?

Traditionally, families lived in villages in close proximity to one another. This arrangement provided a community of support to help care for the mother and baby after birth.

In today’s modern society, the majority of families live in single-family homes isolated from their communities, leaving newborn mothers alone to navigate the postpartum period.

This is where we come in.

We come to your home in the evening and stay all night to ensure that everything is taken care of, and you can get the rest you need.

Our expertise in newborn care means that very few things surprise us, and we are able to provide the highest level of care for your little one.

Alyssa is magic. Our baby's best nights of sleep have been when she is with us. In addition to the precious gift of a good night of sleep, Alyssa is always happy to give advice on things to try when she isn't here. I'd highly recommend her to families with a new little one.” -Liz

She supports families in whatever way best meets their needs. This may look like, breastfeeding and bottle-feeding support, postpartum emotional support, sleep support (ex. information and tips on how to set baby up for future sleep success), and household support (ex. baby laundry, washing pump parts, bottle parts, etc.).

Before becoming a doula, she worked as a professional nanny for over 13 years, supporting families with children of all ages. It was during her time working as a nanny that she had her two girls and realized just how magical and HARD the newborn stage is. She knows firsthand how important a good support system can be and how crucial sleep is!

As your Overnight Doula, she is here to support you and enable you to get some much-deserved sleep.

“At first, I thought that doulas were only for birth support, but she provided postpartum night doula support for me and my family, and it was more important than I could have ever imagined. Her expertise, advice, referrals, and support around all-things pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum have been so helpful and such a comfort.”

Meet Suzanne.

Suzanne Wentworth is one of Wild Mother Path’s Overnight Doulas. She is an experienced mother-baby nurse with 25 years of experience. Her decades of experience in obstetrics make her an excellent resource for young families. Here’s what one client said about working with Suzanne:

“Suzanne Wentworth filled such a need in my life when she came to take care of my newborn son after he was born. She comes with extensive knowledge from her own years as a mother and of course her nursing experience. She ticked all the “boxes” and so much more. She came to my home ready to give herself where she could see a vulnerable and new mother needed. She came full of advice but with warm encouragement for what I ultimately wanted. She spread her love to all members of our house including our dog who so badly needed some extra love in those days. Being able to leave your baby in the arms of another person and walking away without a shred of fear or worry is such a gift. For me, that reassurance and total relaxation is something really unique to Suzanne. I have not left my son with anyone else since Suzanne and had that same total feeling of peace that everything will be okay, the baby will be okay, the dog will be okay, the house will be okay! If you have the opportunity, bring this wonderful woman into your life!”

“Suzanne helped me overnight with my second baby and she was amazing. I was unable to breastfeed the first time and Suzanne came highly recommended for breastfeeding support. She is truly amazing. She worked with me every feeding until we had established breastfeeding and I continued to nurse my baby for a year! I can’t put into words what that means to me. She is a life saver.”

Kristin Gunner is one of Wild Mother Path’s Overnight Doulas. Kristin has worked with children of all ages for years, including postpartum care and as a nanny. She built relationships with the mothers she worked with and learned about their unique struggles during their birth and postpartum experiences. She realized they all needed and deserved more support than was available to them.

This experience drew her to birth work. Kristin knew all women deserve better. She became a certified birth and postpartum doula to support women when they need it the most. She provides judgment-free care that allows mothers to trust themselves and make the best decisions for their families.

Here’s what one client said about working with Kristin:

“Kristin has been a tremendous help to our family. When she is here we can sleep knowing our baby is in good hands. She never hesitates to do anything that needs done and often stays late to make sure we are settled. I highly recommend her!”

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We want every client who works with us to have an amazing experience. You are coming to us at a pivotal moment in your life and we want to contribute to making you feel loved and cared for.

Our standards for our team are high, so we aren’t the biggest agency around, but all of our doulas are amazing at what they do.

Kaitlyn meets with all prospective clients and personally pairs each client with the doula most suitable for them.

We put you in contact with your doula immediately, so you know who will be working with you.

You have a team supporting you at Wild Mother Path. The doula working with you is an expert in newborn care and your primary support; however, please always feel free to reach out directly to Kaitlyn. She loves supporting new mothers and has a wealth of knowledge she’s gained over her years in a NICU as a registered nurse, in pediatric primary care as a nurse practitioner, and as a Birth Keeper and doula.

  • We recommend you book as soon as you know you will want doula support. We are constantly getting client inquiries and we can’t reserve your doula until you have booked your package.

If you specifically want to work with a Registered Nurse or Newborn Care Specialist, you will need to book as soon as possible. If you are flexible on the certifications/qualifications of your doula (all our doulas are amazing), you are likely okay to wait a little bit, but once you enter the second trimester, our doulas’ schedules start to become fully booked around your due date.

  • This can be difficult to figure as so much will change when your baby is born. It’s helpful to think in terms of how many days/nights/hours you will need per week, and how many weeks of support you think you will want.

We support the full spectrum of client needs. Some clients book one night per week to just have a little extra help and other clients want help daily. Some clients just want a few weeks and others want several months. If you are wanting to discuss how many hours you should book, it may be helpful to schedule an introductory call with Kaitlyn.

  • We pair each client with a specific doula. This means our doula blocks her schedule when a client is confirmed. If a doula will be working with you, she is not available for other prospective clients. Because of this, we require a 20% nonrefundable deposit at the time of booking.

  • Yes. Twins are wonderful; however, they are much more work for our doulas. There is a 20% additional fee for twins.

  • Every schedule is completely based on your needs and your doula’s availability. If you would like your doula on a major holiday, a holiday rate is charged and the rate will be communicated in advance.

Major holidays include New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

With the exception of Independence Day, holiday rates apply to night shifts starting on the evening before the holiday and day shifts starting on the holiday. On Independence Day, holiday rates apply to all shifts starting on the holiday.
