Our Story

postpartum doula, night nurse charlotte nc, night doula near me, newborn care specialist, radical birth keeper, new mom help, new mother help, breastfeeding support, breastfeed help, dehydrated placenta encapsulation, sibling doula, homebirth support

Kaitlyn founded Wild Mother Path after a career as a registered nurse in a NICU where she saw firsthand many women struggling postpartum to find a groove in motherhood. She saw the same issues in her personal life as her friends brought their newborn babies home and had little to no support as they recovered and took care of their babies.

During Kaitlyn’s postpartum period, her mother stayed with her and nurtured her for more than a month, so she was able to focus her time on feeding and loving her baby. She knew many mothers in her community didn’t have this extra support.

She realized that birth is a pivotal point in a woman’s life and a unique opportunity for healing and growth. It became glaringly evident to her that a woman’s pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience have a profound effect on her well-being and her ability to mother with confidence. She found herself drawn to birth work and completed the Free Birth Society’s Radical Birth Keeper School.

At Wild Mother Path, it is our joy to walk with you during your transition into motherhood whether you are having your first baby or tenth. Every mother deserves love and care in her postpartum. The demands that our modern society places on women to “bounce back” after birth are unrealistic at best, and at worst, harmful to both mother and baby.

There is no “right” or “wrong” answer when it comes to your postpartum period. It is simply a time of finding what works best for your family. We know there is no one-size-fits-all approach for pregnancy, birth, or postpartum. Our team is dedicated to listening to your specific needs and caring for you and your baby exactly as you need us.

Our expertise in newborn care means that very few things surprise us and we are able to provide you with community resources if the assistance you need goes above what we can do together in a home setting.
